Baby at the Table: a baby foodie class for the first year

Are you thinking about introducing solids?   Not sure when or where to start?   Purées or Baby Led Weaning? We talk about it all.

The first year is the perfect time to establish healthy eating habits, nurture positive relationships with food, and start family traditions.

Are they getting enough?  We will discuss current best practices and recommendations regarding baby nutrition (here and worldwide).

How do I know they are ready?   Special focus on babies’ physiology as they prepare to eat solids.

What to do if a baby chokes?  You will leave this class with knowledge, tips and confidence to feed and care for your family - even to help with digestion!

What about introducing Allergenic Foods?  Find out the latest recommendations on this topic.

Baby is eating solids, and you want to connect with others, diversify recipes, or create mealtime routines?

You will receive quick recipes and ideas that pack a nutritional punch without making separate meals for you and your growing baby.

$65 (CAD) for this four-week class

The facilitator, Brandie Lekovic, is an OCEA Prenatal Educator who offers personal coaching and counselling as a Doula of 20 years. You may have met Brandie in an Infant Massage class or years ago, facilitating the Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program. In 2016, Brandie’s family traded travel to start a small farm where they participate in growing and raising food. Brandie’s rich and varied foodie history will provide tools that put you at ease and build excitement to bring your Baby to the Table.

People who took our class had this to say:

We dearly want to support the health of expectant families.

The Ottawa CEA went above and beyond our expectations of a pre natal class. We learned the science behind the entire labour process from pre-labour to the birth, we learned about medical interventions, and about positions during labour that both you and your partner could do to relieve sensations from contractions, plus much more. Our teacher was knowledgeable and passionate about her work and she made class a pleasure to attend.

Julia is EXCELLENT! She was very knowledgeable and very funny! She knew how to navigate those awkward and uncomfortable topics with care and grace. If we have a 2nd baby, I would love to have Julia as my midwife :)

Pre Natal – with Julia Wykes

Bring Baby Home presented important information that helped my husband and I feel more prepared for our baby's arrival. The class set expectations accordingly around "stuff" baby will need and cleared up any old wives tales that surrounded topics such as: breastfeeding, solids, food allergies and swaddling.

Julia was really informative and full of excitement, so it was indeed a wonderful series of class

Easy going, could speak up and ask questions without feeling judged.

The Bringing Baby Home course is a great guide to the many how-to's that new parents face. As much emphasis is put on pregnancy and labour, this course allows you to learn and understand what awaits you once your baby is in your arms. We feel much more confortable and excited for the arrival of our baby as this course allowed us to put some worries at ease and opened our eyes to other great options to help raise a happy family.

Erin is amazing at her job, she made the class easy to listen and follow. Her energy brought the class to life, as it was filled with tons of information. It says a lot that it held my husbands full attention throughout ! Great class , great instructor!

I loved Brandie's chat at the end about plugging the baby into your life, and seeing the first 6 weeks as "vacation."

Discussions and candid disclosure of information about various topics

The Bringing Home Baby Course have my husband and I the confidence we needed and are now more than ready to bring home our baby. The course reinforces your natural parenting instincts while offering some new insights along the way. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed learning with Erin, she was great at presenting information and making it digestible for first-time parents like myself who might be a bit nervous on what's to come! I signed up my husband to join me (he is a primary care physician who has a lot of base knowledge on babies). He listened in to the class, and agreed that Erin was a great teacher and presented information on feeding, nursing and health-related info really nicely for first time parents. Thanks, Erin!

Erin was really wonderful and had so much information that was easy to follow and was non-judgemental with any questions you had. She did really well with teaching the class online given the current situation.
