We are proud to offer

It Takes a Village: A class for Grandparents and other Supporters

The last 30 years have offered families more information than ever before on Infant Mental Health, Skin to Skin and strategies to support attachment,  which has resulted in changes in our day-to-day parenting techniques.  And of course, Covid-19 has impacted our support systems immensely.  Our parenting values of unconditional love,  understanding, parenting with intention have all remained, but the tools available to us have changed, and work-life-balance for 2024 families is different.  Leave with practical strategies to support your adult children and grandchildren, your extended family member, or your very best friend through the following topics and more!

We will cover newborn sleep recommendations
Car seat information
Babywearing
Infant feeding recommendations
Supporting a new family during Covid-19
How you can use technology to stay connected to your grandchild

Registration is per couple OR for one participant and their Plus-One (ie: Grandma-to-be and an Auntie ). Leave feeling excited to be able to offer support for your family that reflects all of your family’s values.

If the cancellation occurs less than 14 days before the class there is a 50% cancellation fee. People who took our online class during COVID-19 had this to say:

Given the continued need to physically distance, the size of our room rentals and the evolving state of our global pandemic, OCEA will continue to offer all classes online throughout 2022.
We dearly want to support the health of expectant families.

Erin was absolutely amazing! The way she teaches is so engaging and funny and the two full days spent together over Zoom flew by. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and her approach was very open, kind, and non-judgmental.

Michelle was amazing! It would have been nicer if the class was in-person and we could practice more positions, but I really enjoyed the class and learned a lot. Thank you so much!

Lilly was amazing - she is clearly extremely knowledgeable, answered every participant's question, and her voice was extremely soothing especially during the comfort measures section.

Julia is EXCELLENT! She was very knowledgeable and very funny! She knew how to navigate those awkward and uncomfortable topics with care and grace. If we have a 2nd baby, I would love to have Julia as my midwife :)

Erin was really wonderful and had so much information that was easy to follow and was non-judgemental with any questions you had. She did really well with teaching the class online given the current situation.

We were very impressed with the OCEA "Bringing Baby Home" course. It was well-paced and kept my attention, but also had enough time to ask questions and try some "hands-on" work such as straddling and baby-wearing. The instructor was fantastic and I left the class feeling much more confidant about what's to come. Perhaps most importantly, we gained the knowledge of where to go for help in the community and when to seek help.

Julia was wonderful. Her voice is both lively and soothing to listen to. She’s also really hilarious. I loved the added bits of humour. She gave many opportunities to ask questions throughout the course. If she isn’t sure about something, she accesses her own resources/network and gets back to you with an answer. As COVID protocols are constantly changing within the healthcare domain (hospitals, birth centres, home births), I thought she was very knowledgeable about the current situation within each place. She was very knowledgeable about the birth process and the postpartum period for the family unit. There were many resources that we could access to facilitate some of the topics within the class that could need more attention either in the prenatal period or postpartum period (I.e infant feeding) which was great!

Great use of zoom. Thank you.

Pre Natal One Day – with Brandie Lekovic

The time that she took at the end to have a group chat and ask us all to check in. I would highly recommend that she do this with classes in the future. Ask questions and have the group check in. It was really nice to get the feedback and feelings of others in the class.

Pre Natal One Day – with Brandie Lekovic

I could not speak more highly of Brandie! She is an absolutely phenomenal instructor - knowledgeable, personable, well-spoken, organized - I could go on! She used props to help illustrate concepts, answered a wide variety of questions, provided resources, and engaged the group (not easy over Zoom). She also stayed online as long as needed after each session to answer any additional questions that arose. Taking this course alleviated my fears about childbirth and increased my confidence. I would highly recommend her to anyone!

Lily made online learning more community like than we thought was possible! It was also very nice to learn from the comfort of our own home!
