Our Classes

We are proud to offer

Comfort Measures‎

This is not a full prenatal class. This is a hands-on session to practise coping strategies and to help you find practical tips for your labour and birth.

Dress comfortably, bring a birth/pilates ball if you have one, a pillow, and a yoga mat or bath towel for your comfort. We will practice positions on the floor. Inspired by Lamaze, Bonapace, rebozo, yoga, visualization, cranial-sacral therapy, and years of Doula experience.

This class was designed as a complement to our prenatal class (group or private). It is also a great refresher for those who have already taken a prenatal course, are having another baby, preparing for a VBAC, and is specifically designed for those wanting strategies to avoid pharmaceutical pain relief.

Labour partners are encouraged to help support the birthing person and to expect homework.
Pregnant people who would like to come on their own are so welcome and invited to work directly with the facilitator / experienced Doula, Brandie Lekovic.

 This 3hr class is $85.

People who took our online class during COVID-19 had this to say:

Given the continued need to physically distance, the size of our room rentals and the evolving state of our global pandemic, OCEA will continue to offer all classes online throughout 2022.
We dearly want to support the health of expectant families.

Was very impressed with the educator, delivery, personal stories and experiences and neutral, evidence based opinions and attitude

Bringing Baby Home – with Brandie Lekovic

The OCEA prenatal class was so informative. My husband and I walked away from the classes feeling like we had a lot of information and the necessary tools to make informed decisions that fit our birth plan and our own family preference for our at-hospital birth. My husband was also really pleased with the course because it offered a lot of information on the role of the birth partner, which is information you don’t find readily available online unfortunately. We highly recommend any new parents to take this course so that you can feel prepared and make decisions on your birth date that you feel comfortable with.

Misty was phenomenal as a Facilitator, she was unbiased in her approach and research-based which was great. She was empathetic, I felt she spoke equally to moms-to-be and partners and didn't make it all about the moms which was a relief. She answered every question the participants had, she was knowledgeable beyond my expectations!

Pre Natal – with Misty Pratt

The Pre Natal course with Misty was phenomenal, she is beyond knowledgeable and research-based which made the learning unbiased and to the point. She answered every question and I feel much more prepared for birth than I thought was possible. Amazing experience!!!

This class was great! She was so well prepared and had wonderful images and props and ways of explaining things that made learning about giving birth very accessible.

Pre Natal One Day – with Brandie Lekovic

If you have any fears or concerns about labour or the initial time after birth this course if for you! The instructors offer a non-judgmental and safe environment where students learn how to cope with all aspects of the process, including current COVID-19 issues.

My husband and I had the pleasure of attending prenatal classes this weekend, guided by the wonderful Michelle. Her kindness, expertise, and unwavering support made the experience truly invaluable. From Saturday to Sunday, we felt empowered and informed, thanks to her guidance. Without hesitation, I would wholeheartedly recommend these classes to any expecting couple. Michelle's dedication and warmth create an environment where you feel not only prepared but also genuinely cared for.

As a mom-to-be with zero experience caring for babies, this class was so reassuring. I learned a ton and feel much more confident about bringing our baby home.

Bringing Baby Home – with Erin Shaheen

Julia was wonderful. Her voice is both lively and soothing to listen to. She’s also really hilarious. I loved the added bits of humour. She gave many opportunities to ask questions throughout the course. If she isn’t sure about something, she accesses her own resources/network and gets back to you with an answer. As COVID protocols are constantly changing within the healthcare domain (hospitals, birth centres, home births), I thought she was very knowledgeable about the current situation within each place. She was very knowledgeable about the birth process and the postpartum period for the family unit. There were many resources that we could access to facilitate some of the topics within the class that could need more attention either in the prenatal period or postpartum period (I.e infant feeding) which was great!
