Our Classes

We are proud to offer

Infant Massage

Infant Massage has been shown to increase oxytocin (the feel-good hormone) and decrease cortisol (the stress hormone) for both the baby and caregivers.  We all need a little more of this!

OCEA is offering Live Virtual opportunities to learn this skill and to connect (with us, others, and your baby).  Classes run for 4 sessions for $65.

Infant massage is a natural way to nurture and care for your baby. We do this while holding them - without even thinking about it. Infant Massage classes teach a whole-body massage routine, the benefits of individual strokes, ways to communicate with your baby, and how to have some special time together.

The facilitator, Brandie Lekovic, will lead you through individualized massage sessions. Sessions include massage oil (if joining an online session, see notes) and handouts. Classes are intended for pre-crawling babies and provide lots of clever hints on taking massage into the years to come. Brandie received her training with the International Association of Infant Massage and loved using these tools with her boys.

Live Online Class:  4 sessions = $65
Private virtual sessions are $75 for a single class or $120 for 2 (giving a better chance for practice).  You are welcome to invite a group of babies' new friends for an additional $10 per baby.

Refund Policy:  When cancelling a prenatal class after it has been booked, there is a $25 (CAD) administration fee. If the cancellation occurs less than 14 days before the class, there is a 50% cancellation fee. If it is less than 7 days, there is no refund.

People who took our class had this to say:

We dearly want to support the health of expectant families.

Julia was great! She kept things light, down-to-earth, and didn't sugar coat things. We all tend to have ideas about what childbirth is like based on tv, movies and old-wives tales, but she was great at dispelling anything that may have mislead us in the past. Her knowledge and experience in the area of childbirth was incredibly helpful.

It was useful to understand the real benefit of breastfeeding compared to formula, as opposed to all the judgemental information that is out there.

Julia was an amazing educator and I would highly recommend her and this class to new parents.

Julia was really informative and full of excitement, so it was indeed a wonderful series of class

Erin provided good information regarding on screen time with infants/children which is something that we have always been concerned about.

Julia was wonderful. Her voice is both lively and soothing to listen to. She’s also really hilarious. I loved the added bits of humour. She gave many opportunities to ask questions throughout the course. If she isn’t sure about something, she accesses her own resources/network and gets back to you with an answer. As COVID protocols are constantly changing within the healthcare domain (hospitals, birth centres, home births), I thought she was very knowledgeable about the current situation within each place. She was very knowledgeable about the birth process and the postpartum period for the family unit. There were many resources that we could access to facilitate some of the topics within the class that could need more attention either in the prenatal period or postpartum period (I.e infant feeding) which was great!

Great use of zoom. Thank you.

Pre Natal One Day – with Brandie Lekovic

Julia was awesome! Would have loved to do it face to face, but completely understood due to the current climate. It worked well online and was very information.

She was great! I really appreciated all of her knowledge and ease of communication even in a new format that is by default distant. I took away a lot of really useful information.

The class was very thorough, capturing the first weeks of having a newborn! The instructor was fantastic- thorough, knowledgeable, engaging, and made everything relatable to what being a first- time parent is like! I would take other courses offered, because I would feel confident that I was getting the best information to make choices from out there!

Julia was funny, witty and had good energy throughout the class. She delivered the ingormation calmly and simply. We absolutely adored her as our educator!

A must for all first-time parents in the Ottawa Area. Although the Bringing Baby Home Class came highly recommended to me, it still exceeded all my expectations and I definitely will telling all the mothers to be about it in the future.
