Our Classes

We are proud to offer

Baby Steps

Welcome to OCEA's Tuesday morning new parent group!  Bring your baby, a warm drink, snack, and come to meet new friends!

This new parent group will run on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11 for eight weeks.  Each week we discuss a different topic around life with a newborn.  This group is geared toward families with babies from 0-6 months.  Topics will be reflective of each group's needs and may include any of the following:

  • Getting out and about with a newborn: sharing ideas of fun, easy outings with your newborn
  • Finding and creating time-saving strategies as a new parent
  • Family adjustments: setting gentle boundaries with loved ones, and managing expectations from friends and family.
  • Days with our newborns: sharing ideas and suggestions for setting a nice rhythm to our days
  • Sleep and naps:  let's share our sleep wins and challenges!
  • Open question week:  Bring your questions and let's discuss and brainstorm some ideas
  • Planning family meals: meal prep is an ongoing task, as support during the "5-7 pm shift" and so much more.
  • Baby wearing: bring your carriers, let's try them on and make adjustments

Baby Steps will be facilitated by Michelle Morra, an OCEA  prenatal educator,  postpartum doula and parent to five.   Michelle's calm approach to gentle parenting and supportive care towards new parents will make this a wonderful, non-judgemental, safe group.  Michelle looks forward to welcoming you and your baby in the fall!

The cost of the class is $150 (+hst)

Refund Policy: When cancelling a prenatal class after it has been booked there is a $25 (CAD) administration fee. If the cancellation occurs less than 14 days before the class there is a 50% cancellation fee. If it is less than 7 days there is no refund.  Requests for date changes within 7 days of class will reflect a $75 fee.

People who took our online class during COVID-19 had this to say:

Given the continued need to physically distance, the size of our room rentals and the evolving state of our global pandemic, OCEA will continue to offer all classes online throughout 2022.
We dearly want to support the health of expectant families.

Julia was an amazing educator and I would highly recommend her and this course to new parents. It was incredibly helpful.

Excellent instructor, could not have asked for better.

Pre Natal – with Lilly Bianchi

Lilly is excellent! Would definitely take a course with her again. She is not only very knowledgeable but friendly as well. We really enjoyed the class!

It really prepared us for the journey we are about to experience, we highly recommend everyone who is going to have their babies to take this prenatal sessions. Removes the fears and unknowns about childbirth. Being able to share your knowledge and experiences with the other new parents in the class was very helpful.

During such a difficult time to be pregnant (I never thought my pregnancy would be during a pandemic!) it was really nice to come together with other couples in the same boat. Though it wasn't as social as an in class opportunity likely would have been, the sense of community is such a nice feeling.

Brandie made me feel much more relaxed about how to manage pain during this class- and I loved the massage techniques that she taught our partners

Pre Natal – with Brandie Lekovic

Brandie did an excellent job at teaching the course via zoom. She was engaging, offered great tips and information.

Erin was fantastic! She is extremely knowledgeable and is able to offer good recommendations without pushing her opinion on you. She was very friendly, has made herself accessible to help should we have questions or need help assessing our car seat setup, etc. We could not ask for a better educator!

Bringing Baby Home – with Erin Shaheen

Julia was great! She kept things light, down-to-earth, and didn't sugar coat things. We all tend to have ideas about what childbirth is like based on tv, movies and old-wives tales, but she was great at dispelling anything that may have mislead us in the past. Her knowledge and experience in the area of childbirth was incredibly helpful.

We thought Lilly was wonderful!! She kept the course engaging and shared a lot of useful information. She was also funny!! We would highly recommend her course to friends.

The Bringing Home Baby course offered by OCEA was worth every penny. My husband and I were thoroughly impressed with the educator’s level of knowledge and experience. The class covers a lot of material but somehow flies by! 10/10 would recommend!

It was nice to be at home and be able to adjust our computer, seating, etc. at our leisure.
