For over 40 years, trusted by Ottawa's parents-to-be.

People who took our online class had this to say:

Again, the very frank and honest explanations of what to expect are extremely valuable. These are things that nobody ever tells you and are usually very difficult to talk about.

Pre Natal – with Julia Wykes

I was worried that due to the fact that information is so easily accessible online these days that this course would be a waste of time and money but I am extremely happy that we did it. The information we received was so clear and unbiased that we feel much more comfortable and well informed for whatever our birth may bring. Our educator was so knowledgeable and approachable, and really made us feel much more confident about the whole process. No regrets.

Prenatal Classes for Midwifery Clients – with Brandie Lekovic

Erin was absolutely amazing, very knowledgeable and kept the class interactive even in the online platform. Very helpful at answering questions and gave a lot of great tips.

Brandie sent us SO many links and provided us with a lot of different reading materials... a dream for someone like me who loves information

The Ottawa CEA have very informative and helpful classes offered to new or to-be parents. We were able to take both the Prenatal and Bringing Home Baby classes and we would recommend them to any parents. The instructors are very engaging, positive, helpful and experienced. They put our minds at ease. Thank you!

Bringing Baby Home – with Erin Shaheen

This class was an excellent resource for new moms and dads to be - highly recommended! Be prepared to learn a lot that your baby books don't tell you.

Julia was great! She kept things light, down-to-earth, and didn't sugar coat things. We all tend to have ideas about what childbirth is like based on tv, movies and old-wives tales, but she was great at dispelling anything that may have mislead us in the past. Her knowledge and experience in the area of childbirth was incredibly helpful.

Pre Natal – with Julia Wykes

Julia was wonderful! She did a great job of making the information engaging and easily accessible for first time parents. She was really encouraging and inspiring!

This was the second course that we took with Ottawa CEA, and yet again our expectations were exceeded. Our instructor was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing balanced and informed views while fostering a relaxed and open learning environment. There was a very good mixture of lecture, discussion and hands-on activities (including the opportunity to try on various baby carriers, handle the many different types of cloth diapers, perform infant CPR on small dummies, etc.). We learned so much over the course of two days, and are very happy that we decided to attend. We feel much better prepared both for the months leading up to our baby's birth (we now have a better sense of what baby gear is really necessary) and the first year of her life.

My husband and I had the pleasure of attending prenatal classes this weekend, guided by the wonderful Michelle. Her kindness, expertise, and unwavering support made the experience truly invaluable. From Saturday to Sunday, we felt empowered and informed, thanks to her guidance. Without hesitation, I would wholeheartedly recommend these classes to any expecting couple. Michelle's dedication and warmth create an environment where you feel not only prepared but also genuinely cared for.

Erin was really wonderful and had so much information that was easy to follow and was non-judgemental with any questions you had. She did really well with teaching the class online given the current situation.

Again thanks for all the work you've done to make the class accessible during this time and to update all the resources.

Pre Natal One Day – with Brandie Lekovic

Erin was very personable and shared her expertise freely and in a non-threatening way. The way she laid out the information and gave us room to ask questions and determine the best route for our own choices was so appreciated. Her quick responses to questions on the chat was also most welcome.

Bringing Baby Home – with Erin Shaheen

Erin was fantastic - knowledgeable and engaging! We felt completely at ease and we greatly enjoyed the class.

Bringing Baby Home – with Erin Shaheen

Erin was incredibly personable, knowledgable, responsive and a very fun teacher. She was able to keep our attention throughout the day with her lovely jokes, depth of her knowledge and experience and kind and welcoming personality. We learned a lot from the class and truly enjoyed ourselves.

Bringing Baby Home – with Erin Shaheen

Brandie did an excellent job at teaching the course via zoom. She was engaging, offered great tips and information.

We liked when studies, research, etc. were referenced when presenting information. There is so much information out there that it's nice to know when information has been validated by research.

Bringing Baby Home – with Brandie Lekovic

I'm so glad we took this course. Even if you feel like you've done your homework and read every article out there, it's great to have the chance to discuss what you've learned in a fun and supportive environment. It was great chance for my partner and I to ask all kinds questions and get practical, down-to-earth advice.

Bringing Baby Home – with Erin Shaheen

Great class, I signed up mostly for my husband to get him ready, I was so nervous that he would not know what to do but now I feel more confident. We are a first time parents.

Pre Natal – with Julia Wykes

I've been reading a lot about parenting and have a sister in law who is very passionate about parenting and I have been around to watch her raising three kids so I have been exposed to a lot of the philosophies. I really appreciated the break down of the sleep discourses and looking at the sleep training stuff, as I had a friend who sent me a huge amount of sleep training info that was like an airplane manual it was so complex and I thought it seemed a little intimidating and unnecessary/counterintuitive, so I was glad to hear that it is not the bible of baby sleep approaches.

Bringing Baby Home – with Erin Shaheen

I loved the nonjudgmental approach not only towards each mother’s birthing preferences but also to the dynamics of them and their support person - be it partner, friend, family, or solo. Everyone was welcomed and each option was explored equally and with dignity. There was no shame. Additionally, everyone’s knowledge going into the class was different and no one was belittled or embarrassed. Every voice mattered and every question was handled with just as much importance as another and answered in a very informative and empowering way and information was repeated throughout in various ways to ensure we not only understood but retained it. 100% recommend the course. Even as someone who had done a lot of prep work prior, the reinforcement was worth it.

Pre Natal – with Michelle Morra

Julie was very kind, attentive and informative. We found the course information credible and were comforted by the fact that she has midwifery training. We are strongly considering taking the "Bringing Baby Home" course as well. Thank you for adapting the course material.
